About the 8 week Yoga Course:

  • The course combines specific yoga therapy techniques to;

  • Enhance the functioning of the nervous system to improve well-being

  • Increases self-awareness through the practice of mindfulness

  • Improves emotional regulation & resilience 

  • Reduce habitual patterns of though and behaviour

  • Both mindfulness and therapeutic yoga are well known to help improve stress, anxiety and depression. 

  • All sessions are taught in a compassionate and safe setting

Course structure

We meet once a week for two hours over an 8-week period. During each session you will learn how the mind, body and brain work together from a scientific perspective and explore how to use practices that will promote wellbeing.

Sessions include a 1 hour 10 minutes yoga practice, breath work, additional mind-body activities and a group discussion.

During the first two weeks of the course we focus on regulating breath, as a mode to alter the functioning of your nervous system, so that you can manage stress with greater ease.  From weeks 3 – 5 we concentrate on the relationship between body and mood and in weeks 6 – 8 we focus specifically on the mind.

 To support your practice you are given a comprehensive manual and a CD or download with eight tracks, which coincide with each week of the course.

No previous yoga experience required - suitable for anyone with anxiety, depression or stress. 

6 week Meditation Course

Many people want to be able to meditate and develop mindfulness skills, but feel they just can’t do it – believing myths such as you have to stop thoughts and have a clear mind! However you may be relieved to hear that this is not the case. In this course I will share with you the best bits of my 10 year journey into meditation.

 

In the 6 week course we will;

•  Explore various practices of meditation - find ways to suit your personality  and lifestyle

•  Take the practices into your everyday life to enhance connection, choice, ease with self and others

•  Understand the role of thinking and how to quieten or still this natural energy and activity

•  Explore the role of your body in meditation, via senses, breath, thoughts, 

•  How to cultivate an attitude of curiosity, patience  and kindness - the key magic ingredients to enjoyment and progress

•  Learn the neurobiology of meditation

5 day Yoga and Wellbeing Course

About the 5 day Yoga and Wellbeing Course:

This course is for those who have a desire & curiosity to find out  how Yoga can become a way of life, more than something you ‘do’ once a week. We will explore how you can take yoga off your mat and make it part of your everyday. Learning to live with more resilience, compassion  and connection to life.  

We are all different; in our range of movement, the patterns in our minds, where we hold stress and how we breathe. Sometimes yoga can feel like we are trying to fit our bodies into shapes. This course will help you embrace your differences and know how to work with rather than against them on and off your mat

Course structure

This 5 day course will deepen your awareness of the link between the body, mind & breath, using the cornerstones of a yoga practice;

•                 Asana - Postures - mindful movement, using the body to release holding patterns. Balancing strength & softness.

•                 Pranayama - Breathing practices Learn how to breathe effectively - understand the link with your nervous system. How to use breathing to manage stress, anxiety and mood, quickly and effectively.

•                 Yoga philosophy - Patanjali's yoga sutras - learn the art of compassion, patience, acceptance, gratitude - qualities at the heart of yoga,

•                 Mind -Meditation , mindfulness, concentration, mantra

•                 Relaxation - including Yoga Nidra, the queen of relaxation practices

Mornings

will be spent experiencing yoga asana, mindfulness, Kriyas (cleansing practices) and breath work.

Afternoons

dedicated to group work, exploring yoga philosophy, neuroscience, physiology, positive psychology, life coaching.

End of the day

with a Yoga Nidra to consolidate your learning and find space to receive the benefits of deep relaxation for body and mind.

We will warmly welcome anyone who has a desire to deepen their yoga practice, with a focus on understanding and experiencing how yoga  can support your health and wellbeing.

Perhaps you have had a break from yoga,  recovering from an injury or illness, or want more tools to manage stress, worry, mood, boost energy & focus in life. Ideally you will have some yoga experience.

About the Teachers:

Josie and Katie are both 800 hour qualified & certified Hatha Yoga teachers  with the IYN and senior teachers at Yogasara Studio where we trained

 

Josie combines her skills and experience of Yoga Therapy and mental health nursing. She is passionate about helping students explore practices and find ones that work for their individual needs and physiology. A mind-body tool box to increase resilience in life and to live with more ease.

 Katie is an experienced Health & Wellbeing Coach who works with both individuals and businesses. Coming from a corporate background, Katie knows all too well the physical and emotional impact of workplace stress and the struggle to balance this with our personal lives.
